Purposely Becoming

2 Corinthians 3:18-So all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord. And the Lord--who is the Spirit--makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image.

Blessings! I want to pick up where we left off last week. So first, let me catch up our new readers. Last week we visited the scripture where the disciples are in a boat when Jesus comes walking to them on the water. The experience initially produced fear in them all, but shortly after clarifying it was Jesus Peter finds himself walking on water just as Jesus was. From that visual we came to this conclusion, "You will mirror what you're watching." In the above referenced scripture we see where Paul is writing and telling his readers that we "see and reflect the glory of the Lord." When I think about glory my initial thought is beauty, but glory is so much more than that. It is the essence of God, everything that describes Him. How wonderful to know that we are built to see the glory of the Lord; and what a privilege it is to know that we are built to reflect the glory of the Lord.

From that thought, I have reminded myself that I can plan what I become if I monitor what I am watching. So often we read scriptures to memorize stories, but I believe we can memorize the stories while learning the principles, passion, and power of the God in those scriptures. The more we see Him the more we reflect Him. I was once told, "Show me the five people you spend the most time with and I'll show you where you're going." That phrase changed my life, I began intentionally monitoring who I was spending time with because I learned that we are built, wired to reflect what we watch the most. If that's love, we reflect love. If we're always with angry people, we'll reflect anger. If we're with people with no ambition, we'll slowly become apathetic. However, if we are with driven people, we find ourselves dreaming and pursuing those dream.

This week, let's continue to monitor what we are watching and who we're spending time with. Examine your five and make the changes necessary. Create a circle of people whose example show no fear of boundaries or limits. Observe the great, risk taking, courageous visionaries that surround us daily. Furthermore, see God in those biblical stories; but see and know that He has only shown us the fringes of His power. (Job 26:14) Each of us have an eternal design and I believe we get glimpse of that throughout our lives via visions, dreams, and imaginations. Seek God more concerning those visuals. Purposely become what you dreamed of becoming. Purposely apprehend greater! Purposely become who you were destined to be. Purposely do what you were destined to do. Blessings!
